Board Update - September 2017

Update from the STLF Board:

Fall is always an exciting time for me, as well as a time of transitions. Thinking back to my time in school, from kindergarten all the way through graduate school, Fall was always a special time that had a distinct amount of energy. Not only did it represent a new school year and new opportunities to learn, meet new people, and gain new experiences, it also represented an official transition from the year before. While I don’t quite feel that same level of “school year” excitement and transition this fall, without having any school age children, I still get to experience the same level of energy and excitement due to my role at STLF.

Now more than ever, we need students to continue to be leaders driving change in the world around us. While the name of the organization is Students Today Leaders Forever, we need students to be leaders now, which has always been a focus for the organization. Just this past year, STLF had 2,066 students from 55 schools participate in 60 Pay It Forward Tours. STLF continues to make a significant impact on the world while focusing on helping each participant understand that they have a purpose, a voice, and can make a difference.

This past year has also been a time of transition for STLF as an organization and Board. We said goodbye and thank you to two of our co-Executive Directors, Josh Hansen and Amanda Cashman. Josh and Cash were instrumental in maintaining STLFs vision and focus the past few years, and they will both be greatly missed. However, we’re excited for their new opportunities and the opportunity to continue to learn from them as alumni of the organization.

We also welcomed a new Executive Director, Isaiah Allen. Isaiah joined the organization as the Co-ED of Development and Story Telling, however, with Josh and Cash’s transition, the Board feels extremely lucky to have a leader like Isaiah within the organization to step into the consolidated ED role. Isaiah has brought a fresh vision and energy to the organization, and I know the Board is excited to support Isaiah as he fulfills the mission of STLF to reveal leadership.

I continue to be humbled by the opportunity to serve an organization like STLF. As an STLF alum that has seen firsthand the organization’s impact on people and communities, I feel it is our duty to help STLF continue to be world changing organization it has been while encouraging the organization and team to continue to think bigger and lead bravely.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Yeah Buddy!
